How to Contact the SD Legislature 2014

How to Contact

========================

E-mail a representatives

-------------------------------

Online e-mail system

If you want to send more than one e-mail or save your text, write a copy of your letter in an alternate software and save it

·        Go to  -- http://legis.sd.gov/Contact/LegislatorEmail.aspx , (on some computers -  you may need to push on CTRL key and click on this link at same time)

·        Fill in your email address, &  fill in your district number if you know it.

·        Select who you want to send it to. The Representative and Senators are listed in the down menu in alphabetical order

·        Fill in the subject line

·        Fill in your message. We suggest you save your text in alternate software, as text will be lost when you hit "send"

·        Hit send to mail your message

.        The LRC will next tell you, you have to wait for a confirmation e-mail and reply to that in your e-mail software

·        Check your e-mail software for message from webmaster@state.sd.us and click the "here" link in the e-mail message to

verify your e-mail and permit webmaster to process your e-mail message and actually send it to legislator

·        Repeat until you have sent your email to everyone on your list.

Helpful hints:
·        Include your name and hometown
 Use an organization's talking points or pre-fab comments if you wish, but PLEASE personalize your message.
·        It is very important is to be courteous and to the point.

Potential problems:

LRC alleges that there is no limit on the number of e-mails that can be sent per day or hour via this on-line system.  However some folks have experienced problems after 3 or 4 e-mails sent (confirmation e-mail does not arrive). Folks are advised to also check virus/spam filters and make sure you typed your own e-mail address correctly, if having problems

All confirmation e-mails from webmaster are identical and thus may be stacked by some e-mail software & the only way to differentiate between them may be by time sent/received. If  sending multiple e-mails, you may wish to keep note of time when sent and/or which you have replied to.

=============================
Direct sending of e-mail

If you don't want to deal with this new on-line confirmation hassle or are experiencing a performance failure of the LRC's new system, below find the generic formula for e-mails at the legislature

Sen.________@state.sd.us,

Rep._______@state.sd.us,

You put the last name of the legislator in the blank area. In the past this e-mail address has never been case sensitive, but e-mails sent to you from the state system capitalizes the first letter of formal names .

It is possible than any specific legislator has requested a unique e-mail address that does not match this generic formula.  If you use generic address formula,  you must watch your e-mail software for "bounce back" notices  to see if your message is delivered or not. If the senator or representative does not have a generic e-mail address or has some block on incoming mail,
               you must use the LRC on-line system or find out unique e-mail address. We have attempted to do this, see below.

Using the generic e-mail address you can send to multiple legislators at the same time, however some legislators say they don't read e-mail messages that are not addressed to them personally, however some do. Some folks fear that LRC may start black listing
       and banning folks that do too much mass e-mailing of same e-mail message to all legislators, but this is a not verified rumor.

We believe these are the SD Senate e-mail  addresses which use generic address (however please watch for bounce backs/returns)

We believe these are  SD Senate unique (not standard) e-mail addresses

 And  we are not sure which e-mail for Senator Jones and Otten  - Sen.ChuckJones@state.sd.us or Sen.Jones@state.sd.us,
Sen.Ernieotten@state.sd.us or Sen.Otten@state.sd.su
========================

We believe these are the SD House e-mail  addresses which may use generic address (however please watch for bounce backs/returns)
 , these have not yet all been checked/tested in 2014

Rep.Anderson@state.sd.usRep.Bartling@state.sd.usRep.Bolin@state.sd.usRep.Cammack@state.sd.usRep.Campbell@state.sd.usRep.Carson@state.sd.usRep.Conzet@state.sd.usRep.Craig@state.sd.us,Rep.Cronin@state.sd.usRep.Dryden@state.sd.usRep.Duvall@state.sd.usRep.Ecklund@state.sd.usRep.Erickson@state.sd.usRep.Feickert@state.sd.usRep.Feinstein@state.sd.usRep.Gibson@state.sd.us,Rep.Gosch@state.sd.usRep.Greenfield@state.sd.usRep.Hajek@state.sd.usRep.Hawks@state.sd.usRep.Hawley@state.sd.usRep.Heinemann@state.sd.usRep.Heinert@state.sd.usRep.Hickey@state.sd.us,Rep.Hoffman@state.sd.usRep.Hunhoff@state.sd.usRep.Johns@state.sd.usRep.Kaiser@state.sd.usRep.Killer@state.sd.usRep.Kirschman@state.sd.usRep.Kopp@state.sd.usRep.Langer@state.sd.us,Rep.Latterell@state.sd.usRep.Lust@state.sd.usRep.Magstadt@state.sd.usRep.May@state.sd.usRep.Mickelson@state.sd.usRep.Munsterman@state.sd.usRep.Nelson@state.sd.usRep.Otten@state.sd.usRep.Parsley@state.sd.usRep.Peterson@state.sd.usRep.Qualm@state.sd.usRep.Rasmussen@state.sd.usRep.Ring@state.sd.usRep.Romkema@state.sd.usRep.Rounds@state.sd.us,Rep.Rozum@state.sd.usRep.Russell@state.sd.usRep.Schaefer@state.sd.usRep.Schoenfish@state.sd.usRep.Schrempp@state.sd.usRep.Sly@state.sd.usRep.Soli@state.sd.usRep.Solum@state.sd.us,Rep.Stalzer@state.sd.usRep.Steele@state.sd.usRep.Stevens@state.sd.usRep.Tulson@state.sd.usRep.Tyler@state.sd.usRep.Verchio@state.sd.usRep.Werner@state.sd.usRep.Westra@state.sd.usRep.Wick@state.sd.usRep.Wink@state.sd.usRep.Wismer@state.sd.us

Those with  non-standard e-mail address,

 Rep.Novstrup@state.sd.us has bounced back on us, we believe this is his not standard e-mail address:
Rep.DavidNovstrup@state.sd.us
Both  of the Haggars can't share the same generic e-mail address, we think Jenna uses Rep.Haggar@state.sd.us, and Don
uses   Rep.DonHaggar@state.sd.us, but please watch for bounce backs and check  and verify these addresses or use on-line system for Haggars.

We don't think that Betty Olson uses the standard formula, but try this version, it may or may not work (we don't know her e-mail address), you may wish to use on-line system for Betty
